Gina Carano rules out MMA return

Once regarded the ‘Face on Women’s MMA’, Gina Carano is unlikely to return to the MMA in the near future after UFC head Dana White claimed that the two parties had struggled to reach an agreement for the MMA pioneer to make a return to the Octagon.

The disagreement arose once Carano stated that she was looking to focus more on her film career rather than returning to the industry where she made her name. Still only 32 years of age, there is still time left for Carano to return, but as she has not competed in over 5 years, this latest setback for UFC may spell the end to her impressive fighting career.

Speaking with FOX Sports, UFC President Dana White was openly critical of Dana’s decision to focus on 2 motion pictures before the end of the year rather than making the return fans were hoping for,

"We've dealt with (Brock) Lesnar, Tito (Ortiz), Chuck (Liddell) was f**king king of the world, Ronda Rousey, we've pretty much done deals with everyone on Earth and she is the hardest f--king athlete we have ever dealt with. The problem is she allows herself to be handled by these Hollywood f**king idiots. It's absolutely crazy, any time you deal with anyone in f**king Hollywood it's a joke. It's literally a joke, it's comical. You feel like you're in a 'Saturday Night Live' skit.”

Despite it being suggested that it was Carano’s was the one who ruled out a return, there is also speculation suggesting that it was in fact White that pulled the plug on the proceedings due to how frustrated he became during negotiations with her agent. This perhaps  begs the question, would Dana White ever considered a comeback for Carano is the distant future?

With her last in 2009 ending in defeat against Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, perhaps a return may not be the best option for Carano as it is likely that 5 years away from the sport will not stand her in the best shape for a return. Is time up for Gina Carano’s fighting career?
